Tallow is a natural and sustainable ingredient that would often be discarded as a by‑product of farming. Using it reduces waste, honours the whole animal, and transforms an overlooked resource into deeply nourishing skincare.

We also produce everything in small batches (usually no more than 20–30 at a time), ensuring freshness, quality, and thoughtful, low‑waste production rather than mass manufacturing.

Not at all. Tallow may sound heavy, but it’s actually fast‑absorbing because its fatty acids closely resemble the skin’s own natural oils. It melts into the skin beautifully without leaving a greasy film.

Our whipped products are especially lightweight. We whip them from cool, which keeps the texture light, airy, and less greasy. Although this method is more time‑consuming, it creates the best texture and absorption. The result is a soft, cloud‑like balm that spreads easily and sinks in quickly.

Most customers find that a tiny amount goes a long way, leaving the skin nourished and comfortable - never shiny or oily.

Every product at The Tallow Shed is created with intention.

We use six carefully chosen carrier oils and over sixteen essential oils, each selected for their unique skin‑supporting properties. Every formula has purpose - from the essential‑oil blend in our Botanic Balm specifically chosen to heal, to the avocado oil in our Rose Face Cream, chosen because it’s especially suited to delicate facial skin.

We also source the finest grass‑fed British tallow, primarily from Welsh farms, and support local producers wherever possible. Sustainability matters to us: our packaging is recyclable or compostable, we reuse materials, and we continually work to minimise waste.

And lastly - we’re two busy mums who wanted to create luxurious, beautifully scented products that bring a moment of peace and ritual into everyday life. Our products are thoughtful, natural, and crafted with care.

Our tallow is cleaned to a cosmetic standard so it has very little natural scent - usually just a soft, subtle aroma that fades quickly.

Our scented products are beautifully lifted with essential‑oil blends.

Our unscented products may have a gentle natural tallow scent, but nothing strong, heavy, or “beefy.”

“Comedogenic” simply means an ingredient has the potential to clog pores and contribute to blackheads or breakouts.

High‑quality, cosmetic‑grade tallow like ours is generally well‑tolerated and fast‑absorbing, and its fatty‑acid profile is very similar to our skin’s own natural oils. Because of this, most people find tallow melts in easily without causing congestion.

Of course, everyone’s skin is unique, so if you’re prone to breakouts we recommend starting with a small amount or doing a quick patch test. Our formulas also blend tallow with lightweight carrier oils to keep the texture breathable and easy for the skin to absorb.

All of our packaging is recyclable or compostable, and we reuse boxes and materials wherever possible. Our approach is simple: be kind to the planet while creating thoughtful, beautiful skincare.

A little truly goes a long way.

Because our products are highly concentrated and contain no fillers or water, you only need a small amount. Start with less than you think you need, allow it to melt into the skin, and add more only if necessary.

Each product also includes specific directions on the label.

Store all products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Because they’re completely natural, textures may change with the seasons - softer in summer, firmer in winter. This is perfectly normal. Simply warm a little between your fingers or let it melt gently into the skin.

For an extra refreshing feel, especially in warmer months, you can even keep them in the fridge.
